Pontiac

The same day I caught John McCain eating a pork chop on a stick, I took this shot of an old Pontiac at the Iowa State Fair. Do any of my readers know what model this is or what year? I know nothing about cars.

judging from the license plate, i'd say its from 1955. as for the model, either pontiac had a car called "Dr. Cog" or thats the guy who owns it.

Judging from the hood ornament it's a 1955 Pontiac Star. Pontiac was known for it's outrageous and excellent hood ornaments. It's hard to tell form the picture, but looking from above the ornament was it shaped something like an airplane? If so, that's most definitely a Star.

I totally lied -- my dad tells me it's a 55 Pontiac Chieftan. His uncle drove a 54, and we actually have one of those hood ornaments in the house. He may be 60 and forget all of my friends' names all the time, but he remembers just about every car ever made until 1970.

Also Reid, your photography is spectacular. Hope everything is going well,
